1. What are the minimum system requirements needed to install BK Photobooks


On Windows you need Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows Vista or Microsoft Windows XP. Apple Mac has been recently provided for.


2. How do I install BK Photobooks the software?


We have 2 options. The 1st option is to download it from our website at: www.bkphotobooks.co.za The 2nd option is to get hold of us via email at info@bkphotobooks.co.za and we will arrange a CD copy of the software for you.


3. How do I get my finished photo album to BK Photobooks?


The most common method is to upload your album via our software . Once your album is complete, click on "Order" From there follow a few easy steps to and you're done. The other option is to post it to us. The software will automatically create a zip file that you will need to copy to a disk and post to us

4. Can I delete text or pictures on my page?


Yes you can. All you do is simply select the picture or text and click delete. The original text will not print on your album unless it is altered.


5. Can I add more photos to my album after I have begun creating it?


Yes, you will see a + sign whilst designing your album and you click on that and this will open up a screen allowing you to select more pictures.


6. What are the dotted lines near the edge of the page?


These are a guideline to the area in which you are advised to keep all your content. We call this the safe area. As the title states, this is the area in which you can safely place your images and text. Anything out this area has the chance of being cut off or folded.


7. What is bleed and will it that affect my design?


Bleed is simply the area outside of the visible background picture you see on screen. You do not have to worry about this because our software automatically calculates the bleed for every album that is printed.


8. How many pages can I have in my album?


Our software recommends 24 pages or more but it is entirely up to you. You may add or delete pages at anytime during your design. Bear in mind the more pages, the higher the cost and visa versa.


9. What are those red and orange icons appearing in the corner of my photos?


When you see the orange flag it means that the photo quality is not at its best for printing because the picture has been stretched too big. If you see the red exclamation mark then your picture is significantly low in quality for printing purposes. In both instances you need to make the picture small on screen until the icons disappear. Generally speaking you may print with the orange flag icon but bear in mind if you want absolute crisp quality for that photo it is recommended to reduce the picture in size.


10. Can I change a background that I have selected from the 'New Album Wizard'?


Yes. You can change any selection that you have made during the album creation process. To change a background, select the required page and click on 'Backgrounds' in the toolbox. Then drag the background you wish to use to the working space. If you want to use the selected background for all the pages in the album, right click on the background and select 'Copy background', then right click again and select 'Paste background on all pages'.


11. Can I rotate a picture?


To rotate a picture, select the one you want then right click and select either rotate clockwise or anti-clockwise(this is to rotate 90 degrees either way) or rotate a bit. This will rotate your image very slightly in either direction to give it a slanted look.


12. How do I make my picture fit the picture area in the frame?


Here you have 2 options:


  1. Right lick and select fit full image to frame

  2. You can double click on the image and crop the part you want to be visible, or make the visible area smaller.


13. How do I order my album?


You simply click the order icon or select it from the drop down menu after clicking the order tab at the top of the page. You then follow the online instructions and finally you make payment. This completes your order process.


14. How do I copy my album order to a CD?


Once the order process is complete (and you chose the "I will bring the order myself" tab) the software will automatically create a zip file that you will then need to copy onto a disk. This is what you bring in. Please leave the zip file as is and do not make any changes to it. The zip file will contain mainly numbers.


15. Can I reorder a previous album?


Yes you can. You will need to navigate to your album and click on order, then select create another copy. You will then be asked if you want an exact copy of the original album. By selecting yes, you will generate the exact album you previously ordered. By selecting no you will bring up a list of available album sizes that you can change your original order to fit. You may make adjustments to your album or go directly to "order album" button and then complete the order process online. If you selected a different album size make sure that all the pictures are placed correctly as they may move slightly.


16. Will BK Photobooks work on my Apple Mac?


Finally we have a Mac version for all you apple lovers. Simply download the correct version from our website at www.bkphotobooks.co.za


17. Can I still get my photo book within the 12 day turn-around time if I need it delivered?


Yes, our 12 day turn-around time includes delivery (applies to South Africa only)


18. What does the courier charge apply to specifically?


It applies to the entire order, irrespective of the amount of ordered Photobooks.


19. How do I order my album/albums?


You will see a shopping cart icon at the top of the screen. Once connected to the internet Click this button and follow the online instructions.


20. How do I make payment for my album?


You can pay by credit card or EFT


21. How do I send my files to you?


You have 2 options. You can either upload them via the internet or post/ bring the zip file to us on CD.


22. How long does it take before I get my printed photo book?


No longer than 10 working days.


23. Can you convert my iphoto PDF if it does not match one of the original album sizes?


We will not be responsible for converting any PDF's


24. I get an error reading when I try to open your software on my computer.


There is a common reason for this. You will most likely find that the download was not completed due to a slow or intermittent internet connection. We suggest you delete all the files on your computer and re-download the software.


25. Where will the zip file be located on my computer If I don't copy it to disk immediately after the order process?


Navigate to my computer and open it. Look for the folder named "BKPhotobooks_Submitted_Orders" and double click on it.


26. I sometimes get an error message when opening the software on my computer


The BK Photobooks software will automatically check for price updates from time to time. If you are not connected to the internet you will get the error message. Simply connect to the internet or click out of the error message.


27. Where are your offices?

You can however have you photo book delivered to you upon completion or posted to us on disc after completing the order process.


28. Is the software free?


It will always be 100% free. Download it, try it and we guarantee you will love it.


29. Do you accept PDF's or I-Photo?


No we do not accept PDF's or I-Photo but we do have a Mac version download from our website


30. You have created the incorrect photo book?


If at any stage you realize that you have created the incorrect photo book. Do not worry, you can take your existing album created and convert it into a different album type.


You will need to open up the photo book you require to convert. Go to "File", "Create another copy". a pop up message will then appear asking you if you would like to create an "exact copy". You would select NO and then select the album type that you would like to convert your album to. Please note that if you change the orientation of your album from a portrait to a landscape (or visa versa) the pictures may need to me readjusted to fit the converted layout.
